The trial of the man accused of murdering Tupac Shakur began Aug. 17 in Las Vegas, nearly 30 years after the rapper was gunned down. Duane "Keffe D" Davis has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang, per the Associated Press. According to CNN, Davis published a tell-all memoir, ‘Compton Street Legend,’ in 2019 in which he gave a play-by-play account of his plan to confront Shakur and Death Row Records CEO Marion "Suge" Knight in retaliation for an earlier fight. Per CNN, prosecutors are using the book as key evidence in the case and say Davis was the "shot caller" of the group that fatally shot Shakur. Davis is also the only person among the group that is still alive.
