Note: This story contains spoilers from the entirety of “Adults” Season 2. A love triangle has been simmering on “Adults” since a Season 1 finale kiss unlocked some chemistry between the (now legally-wed) duo of Anton (Owen Thiele) and Paul Baker (Jack Innanen), as well as a flash of jealously from Issa (Amita Rao). But as “Adults” creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw started writing Season 2, they knew those feelings certainly wouldn’t manifest in a mature conversation. “We knew that for a group that is so close and intimate, often the way that these feelings of insecurity or jealousy manifest is in these sideways ways,” Kronengold explains to TheWrap. Instead, the FX comedy picks up with Issa spiraling upon discovering that Paul Baker (Jack Innanen) has a secret, shame-ridden friend group of frat bros. “The issue of the day is he has this double life, and it’s not anything that Issa expected, but … it’s just the first crack in the foundation of his relationship that is going to play out over the course of the season,” Kronengold says. Jack Innanen as Paul Baker, Amita Rao as Issa in “Adults” (FX) By Episode 2, Issa and Paul Baker are reckoning with…

The new movies available on Peacock include more than a few that deserve your time immediately. The latest additions to the NBC streamer include some modern greats and longtime classics. If “The Odyssey” has you yearning for more from Christopher Nolan, good news because his Oscar-winning film just returned. If you would rather have an unsung Jim Carrey classic comedy then that’s there too. These are the seven new movies on Peacock that should be watched this weekend. Cillian Murphy in “Oppenheimer” (Universal) Oppenheimer If you’re still riding high on your latest trip to see “The Odyssey,” it could always be worth revisiting director Christopher Nolan’s last great epic. “Oppenheimer” follows the titular J. Robert Oppenheimer from school through Project Trinity as the man realized that by creating the first nuclear weapon, he had changed the world forever. The thematic similarities between “The Odyssey” and “Oppenheimer” are evident, but revisiting how the now-legendary director secured his first Oscar when he’ll certainly be in contention for another this year is well worth the Peacock price of admission. Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom in ‘Troy’ (Warner Bros.) Troy At the end of the day, “Troy” is a full-on action movie. If you…

Along with several other competition-based film festivals like Cannes and Berlin, Venice typically opens with a panel in which jurors are made available to press inquiries. This year’s edition has tapped Maggie Gyllenhaal as jury chair, joined by jurors Kaouther Ben Hania, Daniel Blumberg, Francesco Casetti, Xavier Giannoli, Shahrbanoo Sadat and Johnnie To.
