After years of waiting and months of speculation after that trailer drop, we finally got our first real look at Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar Games and Netflix teamed up to reveal 26 minutes of gameplay for the most anticipated game of the decade on Thursday. All the footage was captured on a PlayStation 5 and showed protagonists Jason and Lucia climbing the criminal ladder and enjoying their lives in Vice City. If you missed the first look on Netflix – or aren’t a subscriber – Rockstar will be dropping the entire thing on their YouTube channel at 9 p.m. ET. But if you can’t wait to watch yourself, here’s what we saw and learned about GTA 6 from their extended first look. Opening Pickup The extended look opened with Jason and Lucia showing up to “pick up” something to be delivered. It’s in a rundown building filled with people. The player started as Jason and showed that they could start conversations and interact with NPCs much like the system used in Red Dead Redemption 2. Most importantly from the opening moments: people will be able to pet dogs in Grand Theft Auto 6. However, things go south quick and…

Jane Fonda and her Committee for the First Amendment organization are defending Mark Ruffalo after he spoke out against the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger. “Mark Ruffalo has a First Amendment right to speak out about politics, powerful corporations and this dangerous merger — full stop,” Fonda, 88, said in a statement via Instagram on Tuesday, August 25. “Calling his criticism antisemitic is a smear to delegitimize criticism of the merger and to distract from the question Paramount would rather not answer: should one company be allowed to accumulate this much power over our movies, television and news?” The 9 to 5 actress continued, “The original Committee for the First Amendment was founded to stand against blacklisting and intimidation of people for their political beliefs. We will not stand by while the government or its allies revive those tactics to bully activists into silence today.” Ruffalo, 58, has been a vocal opponent of Paramount Skydance’s proposed $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery since the deal was announced in February. Jane Fonda Jokes She ‘Slept With the Guy’ Who Created CNN, Slams Merger Paramount Skydance chairman David Ellison is the son of Oracle cofounder and prominent President Donald Trump ally…

The thriller from creator Elizabeth Meriwether and star Emmy Rossum wraps its first run on Aug. 31.
Look out USC, UCLA and NYU, because Emerson is having a Hollywood moment. The school counts Henry Winkler, Jay Leno, Jennifer Coolidge, Denis Leary and Norman Lear among its alumni, along with “Everything Everywhere All at Once” Oscar winners Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Emerson Los Angeles, the Boston school’s satellite campus located on Sunset and Gower in the heart of Hollywood, recently broke out new signage that overlooks the Hollywood sign, a visible marker of its growing footprint in the town. The milestone lands alongside two leadership moves. Veteran cable exec Doug Herzog, an Emerson alum from the class of 1981, was named chair of the school’s Board of Trustees. And longtime media scholar and educator Ken Rogers, class of 1991, was named the inaugural dean of Emerson Los Angeles. Emerson College President Jay M. Bernhardt and Rogers spoke with Office With a View about the appointments, how the bi-coastal film school is adapting its curriculum to AI and industry contraction, and what industry jobs students are actually chasing now that didn’t exist five years ago. How does Doug Herzog becoming chair of your board, and alumni like Pam Abdy, affect the organization? Bernhardt: Emerson has been an incredibly…

Fans of Adults will likely never forget the raunchy and shocking opening scene to the series — and now Us exclusively learned why first-time viewers tuning into the FX series will be greeted with a brand-new, equally hilarious, though notably tame prequel episode instead. “The question that we and the cast get asked the most is, ‘How did these kids meet?’” Series creator — and writer of prequel episode “Marathon Day” alongside his wife and collaborator Rebecca Shaw — Ben Kronengold told Us exclusively ahead of the season 2 premiere. “We dropped audiences right into the middle of this friend group on a normal day, but we had always had this idea of, well, we know how Paul Baker met this group, [and] once the opportunity came about to tell that story and give an extra episode, a gift to the fans we had and roll out a welcome mat to new fans, we just jumped at it.” According to the New York Times, the network found that many viewers were tuning out of the series during one scene in particular from the original pilot: the racy cold open, which shows Issa (Amita Rao) masturbating on a subway car to…

The prosecutors in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case have revealed the reason they believe the mom of three killed her children before attempting to die by suicide. Both the prosecution and defense gave their closing arguments on Thursday, August 27, as Clancy, 36, faces three counts of first-degree murder for the January 2023 killings of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. Throughout the trial, Clancy’s defense argued that she should not be held criminally responsible for the murders due to her mental health struggles, claiming she was unable to tell right from wrong at the time of the slayings. Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague is insisting Clancy should be held criminally responsible for killing her children despite her mental illnesses. “That’s not the issue in this trial,” Sprague told jurors while reflecting on Clancy’s postpartum health, according to People. “The issue is whether, at the time she killed Cora, Dawson and Callan, she knew the difference between right and wrong, and whether she could conform her behavior to the requirements of the law.” Lindsay Clancy’s Chilling Final Words to Son Dawson Revealed by Psychiatrist Sprague then touched on the defense’s claims that Clancy had been overmedicated and received inadequate medical care…
