Inspired by the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman is focused on the West Texas oil industry with a specific focus on crisis executive Tommy Norris and his family. The Paramount+ show, which premiered in 2024, introduced Billy Bob Thornton as the corporate fixer working for an oil titan. Season 2, which premiered in October, struck viewership records for Paramount+ by achieving over 9.2 million streaming views for its premiere episode in the first two days on service. Views increased from the first season premiere, making it the most watched premiere for any original series for Paramount+. Boston Blue on CBS is another show that will get more time to grow. The crime drama starring Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew scored a Season 2 renewal from Hulu, the streamer announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of the debut of the “Furious” Season 1 finale, which drops Sunday. Since its three-episode premiere on July 27, “Furious” has seen week-over-week viewership growth, with views for the penultimate Episode 7 up 40% from the premiere, based on one-day viewing. Hailing from Meriwether, “Furious” follows an FBI agent, Alice Black (Rossum) on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating female serial killer (Petticrew). Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur, per the official logline. A federal judge sentenced a 26-year-old North Carolina man to three life sentences plus an additional 83 years in prison in connection with the murders of an active-duty Fort Bragg soldier and U.S. Army veteran, according to prosecutors. In May, Kenneth Maurice Quick Jr., was convicted of eight counts in relation to the December 2020 killings of Master Sgt. William Lavigne III, a member of the Army’s elite Delta Force unit, and former soldier Timothy Dumas Sr., Stars and Stripes reported. Quick was found guilty of charges including first-degree murder, drug conspiracy and obstruction of justice. Quick is accused of dumping the men’s bodies on Fort Bragg after shooting them to death. LaVigne, 37, and Dumas, 44, were found dead off a road located on Fort Bragg, the Fayetteville Observer reported. (Fort Bragg is an Army base located near Fayetteville.) Prior to their deaths, according to prosecutors, Quick was planning to buy cocaine from LaVigne. The prosecutors in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case have revealed the reason they believe the mom of three killed her children before attempting to die by suicide. Both the prosecution and defense gave their closing arguments on Thursday, August 27, as Clancy, 36, faces three counts of first-degree murder for the January 2023 killings of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. Throughout the trial, Clancy’s defense argued that she should not be held criminally responsible for the murders due to her mental health struggles, claiming she was unable to tell right from wrong at the time of the slayings.
