ET has a first look at Val Kilmer’s AI return to the screen in ‘As Deep as the Grave.’ The film, which Val was set to star in before his 2025 death, uses a digital likeness of the star, built from family photographs and archival material. While the use of AI in this way stirred controversy in the creative community, director Coerte Voorhees and producer John Voorhees are said to be following SAG-AFTRA’s AI policies. The pair tells ET, continuing Val’s legacy is at the heart of the project, and it was something Val had discussed with his children prior to his death. Val’s daughter, Mercedes, calls the tech innovation of the film, which does not currently have a distributor nor release date, ‘a really historic precedent.’
