Uma Thurman detailed how a pair of red shoes landed her in the back of a patrol car at the age of 3. “My first brush with the law was we moved to a new town, we actually moved to Amherst, Mass., and as we were driving into town,” The Dexter star shared on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Oct. 21. “We drove past a shoe store and I saw these red high heeled shoes in the window. I was about three or four.” Thurman said her younger self couldn’t stop thinking about the shoes, so the next day she snuck out the house to go get them for herself. “I got into the shoe store. I told the man that my mother was coming. I tried on the shoes. I agreed that they fit. It was all very nice. And then I handed him 75 cents,” she added. “And the man was like… ‘Hmm, I don’t think this little girl’s mother is coming.’” Next thing she knew she was in the back of a police car with a “very friendly but terrifying to me” officer who returned her to her mother.
