Fans grow to know and love reality TV stars as real people, not as characters — which makes the losses hit even harder. In recent years, stars from Big Brother, The Deadliest Catch, The Real World, Survivor, The Real Housewives, Finding Prince Charming, and The Bachelorette have died suddenly and tragically. In some cases, the production of the show is massively impacted. In April 2013, MTV hit pause on the production of Buckwild, a reality series that followed nine young adults in West Virginia, after the death of star Shain Gandee. In other instances, tragedy struck just months after a star’s reality TV run ended. Big Brother 27 houseguest Mickey Lee died in December 2025 at age 35, three months after the season wrapped. She had suffered multiple cardiac arrests after complications from the flu. In March 2026, Ex on the Beach star Jordan Wright was found dead in a drainage canal at the age of 33. Two months later, British reality alum Jake Hall died at 35. Later that year, Anika Rashaun died at the age of 34 after battling breast cancer. Scroll through the gallery below for more heartbreaking reality TV tragedies:
The actress and rapper first sparked dating rumors last month when they were spotted together in New York City.

The Challenge alum Anika Rashaun has died. She was 34. “Happy birthday in heaven Anika🎂💛 Today I celebrate you on your 35th birthday,” Rashuan’s friend Cyndi Rich wrote via Facebook on Thursday, October 22, revealing the reality TV alum died earlier this month. “You transitioned on October 1 and I know that meant something to you as a girl who always loved her birthday month.” She continued, “Anika lived her years fully with a stacked calendar, juggling all her dreams, invites from friends and always showing up. Anika was meeting everyone she could, traveling (but also living) across the world, taking on jobs (often multiple at once), and never settling for anything less than she deserved. I miss the four-hour (not exaggerating) phone calls, her amazing advice in every situation and planning our weddings together.” Rich met Rashaun, who appeared on 2016’s The Real World: Bad Blood and The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions the next year, as collegiate sorority sisters. Celebrity Deaths of 2026: Michael Gray and More Stars We’ve Lost “It breaks my heart that Anika’s journey ended the way it did. She deserves so much more,” Rich said. “When I’m mad for her I try to hold…
If you’re like me, you have a soft spot for Anthropologie’s boho-luxe aesthetic . . . especially when it comes to the sweaters. I adore the dreamy colors, whimsical prints, roomy silhouettes and cozy knit fabrics. The only thing I don’t love is the over-$100 price tags. Thankfully, these chic Amazon finds have all the telltale signs, and they start at only $8. Jeff Garlin is opening up about his exit from The Goldbergs. “When the producer of the show came to my house [after] I was done, [I] didn’t want to go back. He said, ‘What would it take for you to go back?’” Garlin, 64, recalled on the Wednesday, October 21, episode of the “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast. “I said, ‘A big raise and I work one day a week.’ They said, ‘Yes,’ and if it sounds too good to be true, it’s too good to be true.” He continued, “I had resentment from my castmates, not as much the crew, but there were some of them [who harbored] great resentment. I didn’t know it at the time, though. I was naïve. I didn’t know they knew anything about anything.” Garlin, who played patriarch Murray Goldberg, was written off the 10th season amid an HR investigation into his behind-the-scenes behavior after complaints of alleged verbal misconduct. (Garlin has vehemently denied the accusations.) So just be aware of that.’” Ortega, who starred on Disney Channel’s “Stuck in the Middle” between 2016 and 2018, then jokingly added: “No pressure!” As Ortega went on, she confessed that this advice “has never left me,” adding, “And sometimes I try to give myself grace, and I’m trying to have better boundaries.” Namely, Ortega, who reached A-list fame with her starring roles in Netflix’s “Wednesday” and the 2020s’ “Scream” revival, shared she was no longer agreeing to photos with any person on the street. “So maybe if I feel like it’s not so safe of a situation or maybe I don’t want to stop and agree to take a photo with a random grown man,” Ortega said. “Kids…
