Jon Batiste canceled upcoming concerts in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, citing "personal circumstances" as the reason. “I unfortunately need to cancel a portion of my upcoming performance dates including at the Westville Music Bowl on August 13th,” Batiste wrote in a statement shared by the Instagram accounts of two of the venues—Westville Music Bowl and TD Pavilion—he was set to perform at. "I truly can’t wait to come back and perform for you soon." Batiste’s show cancellation comes one month after his wife Suleika Jaouad—who was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 before relapsing in December 2021 and again during summer 2024—shared insight into her yearslong battle with cancer. “One of illness’s optical illusions is that an empty calendar translates into free time,” Jaouad wrote on Instagram July 16. “The reality is that entire days disappear into appointments and infusions and the fog of fatigue and the administrative labor of having a body.”
