‘America’s Got Talent’ judge Howie Mandel exclusively revealed to E! how Simon Cowell is recovering just hours after he underwent back surgery, forcing him to miss weeks of the NBC talent competition. "As I talk to you, he is just hours out of surgery," Mandel exclusively told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes Sept. 3 at his Los Angeles podcast studios. "I heard that it was a success, everything’s okay." Cowell has been absent from AGT’s season 21 live shows as of late for medical reasons related to a scary 2020 accident in which he broke his back in several places after falling from an e-bike at his Malibu home. And, according to Mandel, the 66-year-old’s operation went off without a hitch. "I haven’t called him yet," the comedian shared before joking, "I don’t know that, this close to surgery, if this is the first thing you need to see."
