Christy Carlson Romano reacts to Hayden Panettiere’s tragic death, and compares the stress of growing up as a child start to a deadly health condition. Romano – who starred alongside Shia LaBeouf on the Disney Channel series ‘Even Stevens’ and voiced the lead character in the animated show ‘Kim Possible – pens an emotional essay for ‘Elle’ in the aftermath of the ‘Nashville’ star’s Aug. 16 passing. Both actresses got their breakthroughs in 2000, the year both ‘Even Stevens’ and Panettiere’s film ‘Remember the Titans’ premiered. Romano says in the piece, published Aug. 18, that she is "crushed" by Panettiere’s death, adding, "Another performer I grew up with, gone too soon." She then goes on to liken the pressures of chasing stardom at a very young age to suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy or CTE, a brain disease caused by repeated trauma to the head, most often associated with athletes such as football players.
