Britney Spears took a ‘wet reckless’ plea deal regarding her March 4 arrest for DUI, pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge. The singer was not present at her arraignment in Ventura County Superior Court, but her attorney, Michael Goldstein, entered the plea on her behalf. ET caught Michael leaving court, who said Britney is ‘pleased’ with the result. The plea includes a $571 fine, 12 months’ probation and completion of a three-month substance abuse program. She must also follow a laundry list of requirements, including meeting with a psychiatrist twice a month.
BRITNEY SPEARS PLEA DEAL INCOMING: Britney Spears is expected to take a “wet reckless” plea deal, a common resolution in cases where the defendant shows a clear willingness to seek treatment. Donna breaks it down… “This happens all the time in these cases. Instead of dragging it through a full trial, they work out a deal. Britney has already shown she’s willing to get treatment and has been seeking it. There’s a lot of sympathy around her, she became a massive pop star at a very young age and went through that whole conservatorship nightmare with her father. A lot of people genuinely want to help her right now. My guess? She accepts this deal. Given everything we’ve seen, this is probably exactly what she’ll do.”
