You may have heard of Jaime Lee Curtis for her role in the “Halloween” movies franchise, or when she starred alongside Ariana Grande and Lea Michele in “Scream Queens;” or even from her more recent Oscar-winning role in “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.” What you might have forgotten is she’s not just a horror, thriller actress, she’s had her go at the Christmas-movie genre too! Jaime starred in the 2004 movie, based on the book “Skipping Christmas” as Nora Krank the matriarch of the Kran family, alongside Christmas-movie veteran Tim Allen. However, if you’re in the camp that loves that movie and puts it on every holiday season, you may be in the minority. Critics absolutely disliked “Christmas with the Kranks” scoring it a very low, 5% on Rotten Tomatoes. Why would a movie that had all the makings to be a Christmas-time classic get such bad reviews? Well, we’re getting into it. From how critics called it a “very badly made movie” to how some critics likened it to getting what is probably the worst Christmas present ever, this holiday-flick was not something to write home about in the eyes of film critics. But nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped Ms. Jaime Lee Curtis from having a thriving career after the movie flopped and has only propelled her further in her career as an all-round holiday movie queen, just not a Christmas-movie queen… so far at least. Here’s why critics hatred “Christmas with the Kranks” but here’s also why we think it could have (and probably should have) been a hit!
