Robbie Robertson, songwriter and lead guitarist for The Band, has died after a long illness. He was 80. The musician rose to fame in the ’60s with the group, putting out 12 records over the years. He eventually became a film composer, often collaborating on projects with his longtime friend, Martin Scorsese.
