The Princess of Wales is speaking out after the controversy surrounding her newest family photo. Kate Middleton issued an apology following the release of her first official photograph nearly two months after she underwent abdominal surgery. The mom of three posed with children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in an image the palace said was taken by Prince William in early March to mark UK Mother’s Day. Though royal fans were happy to see Kate looking rested and healthy on her recovery journey, major news agencies including the Associated Press and Reuters pulled the portrait within hours of its release, citing concerns that it had been manipulated. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day,” the princess said in a statement on March 11.
