A24 and the New York Times are the latest players to emerge that are looking to acquire Letterboxd for over $300 million, according to a report in the New York Times. A rep for A24 declined to comment. “The Company regularly reviews potential investments, and it’s our policy not to comment on speculation about potential acquisitions or divestitures,” Katie Hill, NYT SVP, Global Head of Communications and External Affairs, told The Wrap in a statement. Others that have participated in the early talks include Sony, Netflix and Paramount, private equity firms RedBird and TPG and Reddit co-creator and Seven Seven Six founder and general partner Alexis Ohanian, according to Puck. Letterboxd is majority-owned by the Canadian holding company Tiny, which took a 60% stake in 2023 in a deal valued at $50 million to $60 million. Meanwhile, Letterboxd co-founders Matthew Buchanan and Karl von Randow own the remaining 40% of the company. As of May, the platform had more than 29 million members globally. The latest meetings come after Semafor reported in April that Tiny spoke with both Versant and the Ankler about their interest in potentially buying the platform, thought it couldn’t agree on sales terms with the latter.…
Mekki Leeper will make the jump from actor to star, EP, writer and showrunner with his new comedy, “New Money” at Prime Video. Leeper (“Jury Duty,” “St. Denis Medical”) will star in the half-hour comedy he created and wrote, while he shares showrunning responsibilities with Joe Mande (“Hacks,” “The Running Point”), who also serves as an executive producer. “New Money” is described as an ensemble workplace comedy set in the fast-paced and morally dubious world of private equity, following a trustfund-baby-turned-(self-proclaimed)-mogul and his staff of misguided wannabes at New Money Worldwide, Southern California’s least successful venture capital firm, per the official logline. “Delusions of grandeur and complete incompetence will not stop our nepo-baby hero and his team of dedicated misfits, from failing upwards as they recklessly invest money in a desperate attempt to make exponentially more money,” the logline reads. “Mekki Leeper is a rare talent and a sharp comedic voice who brings an original perspective to everything he does,” Amazon MGM Studios head of global TV Peter Friedlander said in a statement. “Paired with the incredible creative pedigree of Joe Mande, ‘New Money’ is the kind of smart, irreverent comedy that audiences love. We can’t wait for Prime Video customers around…

“And then I cast Tom Cruise and everything went insane.” That’s how Neil Jordan describes “Interview With the Vampire,” his decadent 1994 horror epic based on the 1976 novel by Anne Rice, which is now available as a deluxe 4K Blu-ray festooned with delicious new special features and a handful of previously unseen deleted scenes. (And just in time for Halloween!) But Jordan’s version of events isn’t exactly true. At the time, Jordan was coming off the phenomenal global success of “The Crying Game,” which won him the Best Original Screenplay Oscar and made more than $70 million internationally on a budget of £2 million. (It was also, back before the instant echo-chamber of the internet, a provocative, word-of-mouth sensation that sparked countless conversations.) The studios wanted to work with Jordan, recognizing both the artistic and commercial possibilities of such an endeavor. “People were sending me things,” Jordan said in his typically self-deprecating, extremely Irish way. It was during this period of people sending him things that David Geffen, the controversial record executive and film producer, brought up “Interview With the Vampire.” Jordan said that he’d “heard about the legend of it;” how difficult the book had been to adapt…

Influencer Brooklyn McKnight is taking a stand. McKnight, 26, shut down people criticizing women for nursing in public spaces via Instagram on Wednesday, September 23. “Saw something recently that talked about how women shouldn’t breastfeed in public, and I personally couldn’t disagree more,” she captioned photos of herself feeding her 21-month-old baby, Archer “Archie,” while out and about. She continued, “Feed your babies wherever and however you want!!” McKnight went on to say that breast-feeding is “the most natural thing,” and that she’s “never felt more feminine than when [she’s] nursing.” “Anyway, here are some photos of me BF in public places just to give the middle finger to that side of the internet🫡,” she concluded. Courtesy of Brooklyn McKnight/Instagram Her followers were quick to share their mixed opinions in the comments section. “God forbid we use our breasts for their intended purposes. 🙄,” one commented. Another added, “If men can walk around shirtless, women can too. Also most important thing is that baby is fed… I’m not going to starve my baby just so I can find a private place to feed her. 🤦♀️.” While some couldn’t have agreed more, others preferred more of a “modest” approach. “I do…
