Jimmy Kimmel doubled down on his claim that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) “threatened” his show over an interview with a Democratic Senate candidate, while the White House accused the talk show host of “play-acting.” Earlier this week, Kimmel, 58, announced that his interview with Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, scheduled for Thursday, September 10, wouldn’t air on ABC but rather on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! YouTube channel. He alleged that the “FCC has threatened me, threatened our show, threatened our network, ABC, our affiliates, our local stations, based on simple traditional editorial decisions, guest bookings, it would seem they don’t like.” During his monologue on Thursday, Kimmel reiterated those claims, telling his audience, “This interview will not be televised because of threats from the FCC led by [chairman Brendan Carr], who says we do not have the right to interview whichever candidates we want to interview,” seemingly referring to the FCC’s equal-time rule that requires broadcasters to offer equal time to competing political candidates, with some exceptions, including news broadcasts. (Talk shows like Kimmel’s had long worked under the assumption that they were exempt under that exception until the FCC advised otherwise in January.) “This is yet another attack…

Philipps, 47, commented on the post to share her support after undergoing her own brain surgery in February after doctors found a tumor. Busy Philipps Reached Out to Joe Amabile Amid Diagnosis: ‘Brain Tumor Brother’ “Omg it looks so good👏👏👏(lol i won’t text you mine from when it got infected.),” the Dawson’s Creek alum wrote. CBS Studios filed a motion to dismiss the June lawsuit filed by former “Matlock” writer John Lowe on Thursday, months after he accused producers of creating a hostile work environment with “sexually explicit and discriminatory conduct.” “We take allegations of discrimination and harassment very seriously. Today, with the filing of our motion to strike, we took our first step toward challenging the baseless complaint filed by former Matlock writer John Lowe,” a CBS Studios spokesperson said in a statement to TheWrap. “As stated in the motion and following a thorough investigation, we are confident that Lowe’s accusations are demonstrably inaccurate and maliciously fabricated, and will not allow them to go unchallenged.” “False allegations are deeply damaging, both to those wrongly accused, and to anyone with a serious and legitimate claim of discrimination,” they added. “We stand firmly behind our producers and look forward to the truth coming to light.” In his initial California filing, Lowe cited an alleged instance where he claims he was fired after reporting that his supervisor referred to Juneteenth as “C–nteenth,” utilizing a racial slur. He further accused showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman and executive producers Nicki Renna and Jeffrey Lieber of using “stereotyped comments” against him and…

Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, is reflecting on the “Jolene” singer’s mindset before her death. Appearing on the Thursday, September 10 edition of CBS Mornings, Stella, 77, acknowledged that Dolly appeared to be ready for what was to come. (Dolly died at age 80 on August 25, after a brief battle with an undisclosed form of cancer.) “I know she was at peace,” Stella told host Gayle King. “I could always tell by looking at her face, even if I hadn’t seen her in months.” Stella continued, “On camera, I could tell if she was hurt, angry, happy or sad or felt bad. I don’t believe in completely swapping out your wardrobe by the seasons — and I’m assuming neither does Jenna Dewan. Certain pieces in the actress’ closet seamlessly transition from summer to fall. Yes, that includes dresses, especially a flowy, boho-inspired maxi design. In a recent Instagram photo dump, Dewan shared a striking rooftop picture of herself wearing a ruffled floral maxi dress. I’m not sure where her dress is from, but I found a nearly identical design on Amazon for under $50 that is the perfect addition to your fall closet. See it! Get the PrettyGarden Boho Floral Wrap Maxi Dress for $46 at Amazon! Please note, prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change. Because of its full skirt and long sleeves, this maxi dress can easily be worn throughout the chillier fall months with a solid pair of boots and maybe even a light jacket. Plus, the silhouette is very forgiving thanks to the elastic waist and adjustable tie that cinches you in or can be worn extra loose, depending on how you’re feeling that day. Jennifer Lopez’s Flowy White Maxi Dress Is the Ethereal Style We Need The versatility is what really…
The last time Siân Heder took a film to a festival, the year was 2021 and the festival was a largely virtual, Covid-era Sundance. The film was “CODA,” which landed a record deal with Apple TV, won the audience and the jury awards and went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture, knocking off Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog,” which had been considered the frontrunner for months. This time around, the Heder film is “Being Heumann,” the festival is Toronto and the deal with Apple is already in place. The new film can’t be the kind of underdog that “CODA” was, but it can be the same kind of movie: TheWrap called “CODA” “modest but thoroughly satisfying, corny but effective, never edgy and always likable,” and it’s safe to say that “Being Heumann” is more ambitious, just as satisfying, a little less corny, equally effective, occasionally edgy and, of course, very likable. A story from the life of Judy Heumann, a disability rights activist who led a 26-day sit-in in 1977 to protest the government’s failure to enact 1973 legislation, the film is focused on one woman and one specific struggle, but it gains strength from the…
Jimmy Kimmel welcomed Texas Senate hopeful James Talarico to the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” stage on Thursday night, but their interview only aired in full on YouTube. “I mentioned last night, we are being targeted by the FCC for the crime of interviewing political candidates, even though, for years, we and every other late night talk show have welcomed numerous candidates, including Donald Trump,” Kimmel shared atop the 21-minute clip. “When he was running, he was on this show two times. But now I guess he doesn’t like me anymore — or the First Amendment.” “And so, the FCC has threatened me or threatened my show, our network, even our local ABC stations, because they want to make our editorial decisions for us, which of course we cannot accept,” he continued. “So, tonight, we are bypassing the public airwaves and hosting this YouTube interview on YouTube, even though our government would clearly prefer that we not do it at all.” During their interview, the Texas state representative spoke at length about his opponent Ken Paxton refusing to debate, as well as President Donald Trump and his RNC Midterm Convention. However, Kimmel also made sure to point out that Talarico was similarly…

Just in time for New York Fashion Week, Project Runway has crowned its winner for season 22. During the Thursday, September 10, finale of Freeform’s hit reality show, judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Law Roach and guest judge Fausto Puglisi agreed that Jude Mikulenak was the top fashion designer of the season. “The winner not only showed us stunning clothes throughout the competition, but we saw them grow as a designer,” Heidi, 53, shared during the season finale. “Their finale collection brought beauty, was cohesive and in the end, we’re investing in this designer’s future.” As soon as the winner was announced, Jude, 23 — who beat fellow finalists Joseph McRae, Anna Molinari and Bi Pham — couldn’t hide his excitement. Heidi Klum on Her Hot Marriage, Ozempic and Why She’s ‘Just Getting Started’ “I’m the youngest person in the competition.
