“Godzilla Minus Zero” is lumbering nearer. The highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s “Godzilla Minus One,” the only film in the 70+ year franchise to ever win an Academy Award, arrives in theaters on Nov. 6 and will have its world premiere as the Spotlight Gala selection for the New York Film Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26. But ahead of the movie’s debut, TOHO and GKIDS have unleashed a brand-new trailer, which is appropriately epic given that this is the first Japanese production filmed for Imax. Watch it below. As the trailer states, two years have passed since the last film, meaning this entry takes place in 1949. And the realization that our heroes didn’t fully destroy Godzilla is settling in. They seemingly hatch a new plan to destroy Godzilla for good – at one point, it looks like some kind of zero-G energy field has taken over (“Minus Zero” indeed!) and at yet another point in the trailer, it seems like another kaiju will be introduced. There’s a particularly dramatic shot of Godzilla falling out of the sky. Who is he battling? Godzilla scholars will soon be interpreting the second shriek in the trailer for clues. This new trailer indicates…

The hosts of MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” reacted Tuesday to the ongoing rise of the far-right in Germany, warning that Europe’s political center has been “hollowed out” in recent years by immigration and economic issues. This past Sunday, the far-right German political party AfD (Alternative for Germany) earned over 40% of the regional vote in the country’s formerly communist eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt. The election marked the first time that a far-right political party has won any state election in Germany since World War II, prompting concern from analysts both within Germany and abroad. In the wake of the election results, thousands of Germans took to the streets to stage peaceful protests against the AfD. Concerns only continue to mount, however, as more elections await and the AfD is positioned to potentially garner even more pivotal victories. For his part, “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said that the AfD’s recent, watershed political wins have been a long time coming. “The center in Europe needs to have reasonable, rational immigration policies,” Scarborough said on Tuesday. “We warned time and time again in 2014, ’15, ’16, ’17, that either the center in Europe was going to figure out how to handle the…

Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial” trailer has dropped, bringing Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to life. The forthcoming docudrama is set to premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on Oct. 5. The film, which stars Garfield as Altman and Ike Barinholtz as OpenAI co-founder Elon Musk, was infamously dropped by Amazon, its original distributor, this past summer. It was quickly picked up by Neon, which plans to release it in limited theaters on Christmas Day before giving it a wider rollout in January 2027. The teaser shared Tuesday offers the first footage from “Artificial” that has been publicly released. In it, Garfield’s Altman walks through a seemingly normal, luxurious OpenAI compound that leads down to a vault filled with guns and dangerous weaponry. “We opened Pandora’s Box together. The future is inevitable,” Garfield’s OpenAI CEO muses in voice over as his character goes about his decidedly irregular workday. “Countries will fall. Industries are gonna collapse, and we get to be the ones to shepherd people into this new world.” You can check out the “Artificial” trailer yourself below. Luca Guadagnino’s ARTIFICIAL. It’s coming.
