Within a month of canceling their pay TV subscriptions, around 31% of traditional cord-cutters signed up for a new streaming service during the first quarter — five times higher than the normal sign-up rate, according to new data from Antenna. Per the firm’s estimates, six of the top 10 plans subscribed to within the first month were ad-free. Leading the pack was Paramount+ Premium with 13.7%, followed by Netflix Premium (11.5%), Peacock Premium (9.5%), Netflix Standard (9.5%), Netflix Standard With Ads (9.3%), Apple TV Standard (8.5%), Starz Standard (7.1%), Paramount+ Essential (7%), Hulu Standard (6.7%) and the Disney+ Duo Basic bundle (6.6%). Source: Antenna Prior to canceling, 72% of traditional cord-cutters had at least one premium SVOD subscription. When looking at digital cord-cutters who canceled virtual pay TV services such as YouTube TV or Sling TV, the share for those with at least one premium SVOD jumped to 84%. When looking at household income, the share of individuals with incomes of $100,000 or less who canceled a pay TV subscription between January 2024 and March 2026 was 61%, the same as the share of the general population. Of that total, 32% made less than $50,000 in household income, while 29%…

Apple TV may have removed the + from its name, but its value is still going up — or at least the price is, as a monthly subscription now costs $14.99. The $2-per-month increase goes into effect on Friday, while the annual price is now $119 up from $99 and the Individual tier of Apple One is now $21.95 up from $19.95. Apple TV previously upped its prices from $9.99 to $12.99 in August 2025. The streaming service cost just $4.99 when it debuted in November 2019. The update follows similar moves from rival companies this year. Netflix raised its prices in March, YouTube Premium and Prime Video did the same in April, and Peacock followed suit earlier this month, with ESPN Select also set to cost more starting next month. Apple TV’s 2026 programming includes series such as “Trying,” “Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking,” “Silo,” “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” and “Widow’s Bay,” just to name a few. Hits like “Severance,” “Pluribus,” “The Morning Show” and “Presumed Innocent” have also been renewed for more. The post Apple TV Hikes Price to $14.99 Per Month appeared first on TheWrap.

In “Looney Tunes” canon, there isn’t a character as frequently pancaked, dynamited or run over by a train that came out of a tunnel painted on the side of a canyon as Wile E. Coyote, who first appeared in the 1949 short “Fast and Furry-ous” alongside his foil the Roadrunner. And yet, his ineffable spirit remains. The coyote is the persistent embodiment of picking yourself up, dusting yourself off (or picking up your body parts that have been strew across a sandy gorge) and trying again – to catch that rascally Roadrunner, for sure, but also to follow your dreams, chase the rainbow, whatever. And it’s that spirit of resilience that the team behind “Coyote vs. Acme” found themselves drawing upon in some very trying times, with the movie – an adaptation of a 1990 New Yorker short story that sees Wile E. Coyote hire an ambulance-chasing lawyer for wronged cartoon characters (Will Forte) to fight the Acme corporation over its defective products – effectively killed by parent company Warner Bros. Discovery before getting an unlikely reprieve from distributor Ketchup Entertainment. “Coyote vs. Acme” is in theaters Friday. Just a few years ago, this was inconceivable. Impossible even. But the…

The audiobook business is easy to overlook alongside streaming and podcasting, but its revenue has grown for 15 straight years. Now, a dramatic surge in the number of available titles is pushing the industry toward a more selective phase, as publishers decide which projects merit greater investment while the catalog expands faster than revenue. More than 750,000 audiobook titles were active in 2025, up 43% from the previous year, according to the Audio Publishers Association. By comparison, U.S. audiobook revenue grew 9% to $2.43 billion during the same period, slowing from a 13% increase in 2024. That gap between the rapid expansion in available titles and slowing revenue growth is creating new pressure across the industry. More titles are competing for a finite amount of listening time, raising the value of established audiences and making it harder for individual projects to break through. Publishers and producers must decide where to put their money and marketing muscle, while audio rights that were once routinely bundled into book deals are becoming a more valuable asset for authors, publishers and a growing number of companies competing to acquire them. At the same time, the overall audience continues to expand. Some 58% of American…
