Danielle Fishel said that “Girl Meets World” was initially supposed to live as a standalone series, but it could not escape “Boy Meets World’s” shadow. The actress got her start as Topanga on the original series, which ran on ABC from 1993 to 2000 for seven seasons. She shared on her podcast, “Pod Meets World,” that when she was asked to join the Disney Channel reboot, she was under the impression that it would be a whole new show. “I remember being really frustrated after the first season started because before the show came out, Michael [Jacobs and I], we had a whole conversation about the idea that this was not going to be a reboot,” she said. “It was going to be a whole new show.” Fishel said that she had so much confidence that the show would be its own thing that she even wrote a Tumblr post assuring fans looking for callbacks to “Boy Meets World” that they might get the occasional Easter egg, but should allow “Girl Meets World” to become its own thing. Both Fishel and Ben Savage, who starred as her onscreen love Cory Matthews in the original series, joined the Disney Channel reboot…

Jessica Alba just reminded me how much power the right pair of shoes can have. I’m usually tempted to throw sneakers on with jeans and call it a day, but her latest outfit has me reconsidering that habit. Alba swapped sneakers for kitten heels, making her outfit read more polished, expensive and ready for a night out. Alba was spotted in Beverly Hills wearing light-wash jeans with a relaxed gray off-the-shoulder top, a black Fendi Baguette bag and $585 silver Tresse Paris sandals. The shiny heels took her laid-back denim look straight into dinner-date territory without changing anything else about the outfit. Naturally, I searched for a similar style and found a strappy silver pair on Amazon for just $46. See it! Get the SLXCHBSL Slip-on Kitten Heels for $46 (was $50) at Amazon! Please note, prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change. The Slip-On Kitten Heels combine a square toe, metallic finish and knotted straps for a look that feels far more expensive than its under-$50 price tag. I’m especially into the slim 2.75-inch heel, which adds just enough height without going into the uncomfy, sky-high stiletto territory. Alba’s silver color choice is surprisingly versatile. I’m…
After canceling a Monday meeting to discuss a potential settlement of 12 state attorneys general’s lawsuit against the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger, California AG Rob Bonta tells TheWrap he’s still open to coming to the negotiating table as early as this week. But only if the David Ellison-led media giant agrees to “stop leaking and stop misrepresenting through their leaks” to the press. “It’s simple. They just have to follow the rules for settlement negotiations. They’re being cute. They’re playing games. They are purportedly disclosing confidential information from our discussions, but misrepresenting it to the press. That’s completely inappropriate,” Bonta told TheWrap in an interview on Monday. “Some discussions are required to be confidential so that they can be productive, so that you can have candid conversations about how to resolve a case. Most other attorneys around the country figure out a way to do that. It’s a common part of litigation to follow the rules of a settlement discussion. They haven’t done that, and so that’s not going to fly with us.” In an earlier statement on Monday, Paramount denied leaking the meeting and said it shares Bonta’s concerns about the “public discussions and misreporting that has surrounded this…

According to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office and obtained by Us on Monday, August 24, “combined effects of multiple prescription medications” was listed as “other significant conditions” that led to Clarke’s death. Alyssa Milano was inspired by the ongoing Lindsay Clancy trial to re-share her own struggles with postpartum anxiety that led to her admission to a psych ward. On her Substack, the “Charmed” star reshared an essay she first wrote for Time back in 2018 that detailed her own personal postpartum struggles. Milano explained at the top that while her experiences and Clancy’s are different, it still felt important to share the mental toll giving birth can have on a mother. “Postpartum anxiety and postpartum psychosis are different conditions, and my experience is not Lindsay Clancy’s,” she wrote. “But the trial has brought renewed attention to a truth that connects them: maternal mental-health symptoms must be recognized, believed and treated with urgency.” Milano’s essay recounts how her postpartum anxiety set in following the birth of her son Milo in 2011. Despite laying out birth plans, she had to have a C-Section 10 days before the expected date due to complications. Her anxieties followed shortly after their hospital leave. “That first night, after we returned from the hospital, I suffered my first anxiety attack,” Milano said. “I felt like I had already disappointed my child. I felt like I failed as a…

A three-part documentary about “The Wendy Williams Show” is coming to Peacock in 2027. The working title for the project, which Peacock announced on Monday, is “Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show.” The series will follow how Wendy Williams started her career as a radio host before becoming a voice that would forever change the daytime talk genre. The series first premiered in 2008 and ran for 13 seasons with Fox’s owned-and-operated stations serving as its primary affiliate base. Williams changed the format by embracing her big personality, blending celebrity gossip with more serious news. Over the course of its run the series was nominated for eleven Daytime Emmy Awards and won a Creative Arts Emmy Award. But the docuseries also promises to explore the more complicated side of Williams’ career, shining a light on what this meteoric rise cost the TV host. It also promises to answer long-lingering questions about Williams’ exit from her own show. Williams was expected to host Season 13 of her show until she contracted COVID-19. Her return was further delayed due to complications her Graves’ disease and thyroid condition, resulting in a series of guest hosts for the show. One of those…

President Donald Trump’s attempt to keep his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC in Florida now rests partly on 34 alleged play-starts of a geoblocked documentary by 10 users employing virtual private networks (VPNs). The British broadcaster asked a federal judge Monday to dismiss Trump’s amended complaint, arguing that unauthorized attempts to circumvent its geographic restrictions cannot give the Florida court jurisdiction over a program the BBC never distributed or licensed for viewing in the United States. Trump’s amended complaint alleges that the documentary was played 34 times in Florida. But the BBC characterized those play-starts—just 0.006% of 570,000 successful requests for the documentary—as unconfirmed and unauthorized, saying they did not establish that the broadcaster targeted Florida viewers. The broadcaster warned that allowing efforts to circumvent geographic restrictions to establish jurisdiction could create a sweeping precedent. It argued that foreign companies could be forced to defend lawsuits in states where their content was never offered simply because someone attempted to access it through a VPN. No court has established jurisdiction on that basis, the BBC argued, warning that doing so could have “massive implications for foreign companies with online presences.” “The formerly respected and now disgraced BBC defamed President Trump…
