The Sept. 23 premiere kicks off ‘Survivor’s’ “Open Era” — where no twist, advantage or game mechanic is off limits for the hit CBS reality franchise.
“That’s how you do it on Survivor!” — or, at least, that’s how they used to do it. After last season’s milestone 50th edition of “Survivor” was put in the hands of the fans, Jeff Probst is now ready to introduce the Open Era for Season 51. CBS announced the 21 castaways who will be taking part in the next version of the reality competition show/social experiment on Wednesday, promising gameplay mechanics that will see returning twists and advantages from any past iteration of the series. Once again, “Survivor” is returning to the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji for the 19th straight season. However, for the first time since “Winners at War” in Season 40, the players will be divided into two tribes, with the remaining 21st contestant seemingly taking the place of whomever becomes first boot. The YouTube teaser also offered a first look at the new Tribal Council set, which embraces the season’s whale theme from the updated logo — complete with an entire village covered in massive bones. Meet the cast of “Survivor” Season 51 ahead of its 2-hour premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 23, below: (Robert Voets/CBS) Aaliyah Puglia, 24 — Chefconfident, wise, sporadic Hometown: Gloucester City, New…

Jerry O’Connell has been a household name for decades thanks to his work in film and television. However, he’s gone off script for his role as “Big Brother: Unlocked” co-host for Season 28 of the CBS competition series. “It’s just incredible in this day and age of TV to reach 1,000 episodes,” he told TheWrap ahead of the show’s upcoming milestone. “And while that’s an incredible feat, what really impresses me is that ‘Big Brother 28’ is more relevant and more popular than it has ever been. You just can’t wait for the next episode.” “‘Big Brother’ and ‘Survivor’ are just incredible reflections of society and human interactions and human behavior,” O’Connell added. “I love a lot of unscripted television, I’ve watched a lot of unscripted television and I turn off a lot of unscripted television. Sometimes I’ll start seasons, get a few episodes in, and I’ll look around at my kids and my wife and be like, ‘I’m out. I’m not doing this. This this just isn’t interesting to me.’ But that doesn’t happen on ‘Big Brother.’” Across 1,000 episodes, host Julie Chen Moonves has only missed one live eviction — Quinn’s in Season 26 back in 2024. Luckily,…

Friends, colleagues and some former furry co-stars mourned Tim Curry following the news of his death Wednesday. He was 80. The legendary actor was known for iconic roles in classics such as “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Annie,” “Clue” and “It.” “Though widely known for his inimitable, flamboyant characters and colorful stage performances, his greatest legacies to those who knew him were his curious, expansive mind and generous, gentle heart, both of which remained open and filled with anticipation until his final breath,” his team shared of his passing. Curry’s death was confirmed by his longtime friend and manager Marcia Hurwitz. Tributes started pouring in praising the versatile actor, including from the Muppets who starred with Curry in “Muppet Treasure Island.” “Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry,” they wrote on Instagram. “As a performer he was unparalleled – witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny. Blake Lively was awarded $400,000 in attorneys’ fees in her epic legal saga with Justin Baldoni, according to court documents obtained by TheWrap on Wednesday. This is a hefty sum, but far below the $8 million the “It Ends With Us” star sought in the trial with her co-star/director. These fees mark the end of the pair’s various trials, reimbursing Lively for Baldoni’s failed defamation suit against her. Lively and Baldoni’s 18-month battle concluded in May, settling before they were pushed to a federal trial that would’ve started later the same month. The ruling states that “There is no doubt that Lively is entitled to reimbursement for some of the fact-gathering and discovery processes” and that “Lively is entitled to reasonable attorneys’ fees.” The key word there seems to be “reasonable.” The court ruled that Lively’s request would be both granted in part and denied in part, with Baldoni owing only $363,245.40 in attorneys’ fees and $44,206.35 in other costs, says Judge Lewis Liman in New York. This comes short of the $7.5 million in attorneys’ fees and $540,000 in costs that Lively initially sought. This comes after Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios was ordered to pay The New York Times…
