In honor of ‘Feud: Capote vs. the Swans,’ ET looks back at Joanne Carson’s eulogy at Truman’s funeral on Aug. 28, 1984. Christopher Isherwood also spoke at the service, praising his fellow writer’s ‘extraordinary output of high spirits.’ The ‘In Cold Blood’ author’s longtime friend and attorney, Allan Schwartz, reflected on Capote’s high-society fallout after publishing ‘La Côte Basque.’ As portrayed in the season finale of Ryan Murphy’s FX series, Capote was living at Carson’s Bel Air home when he died on Aug. 25 at the age of 59. Days later, the ex-wife of Johnny Carson remembered Capote at his funeral by reading a passage from his short story, ‘A Christmas Memory.’
