Police say they have not been able to corroborate most of the statements made by Carlee Russell, the woman who went missing in Alabama for 49 hours last week. Russell disappeared on Thursday after calling 911 claiming she saw a child walking by themselves on the interstate. Local authorities announced Saturday that the 25-year-old had returned home that night. During a press conference on Wednesday, the Hoover Police chief Nick Derzis gave an update on their ongoing investigation, sharing the department’s account of what Russell claimed to them about her 49 hours missing and shedding light on the internet searches found on her phone in the lead-up to her disappearance.
