Britney Spears said she’s “lucky to even be alive” amid her estrangement from her family. In a Feb. 4 Instagram post, the pop icon shared a deeply personal message reflecting on loneliness and forgiveness. In the caption, Britney wrote “We can forgive as people but u don’t ever forget. I’m incredibly lucky to even be alive with how my family treated me once in my life and now I’m scared of them. It’s weird how God works in mysterious ways. Because to be totally honest with you, no matter what he says, they will never take responsibility for what they did.” Britney’s message arrives more than four years after the end of her 13-year conservatorship, which officially concluded in November 2021. Her father, Jamie Spears, served as a co-conservator and at the time his lawyer said in a statement that he is “not responding to all thefalse, speculative, and unsubstantiated attacks on him by certain members of the public, media, or more recently, Britney’s own attorney."
