He wrote in his memoir, ‘Stuck in Space,’ per People, "I cannot even begin to convey the feeling of dread that momentarily overwhelms my emotions. It’s simply unbelievable.” Later in an interview with the outlet, Butch—who announced his retirement four months after returning home—admitted that when their capsule experienced mechanical failures, he thought he was going to die.
