Kate Middleton is prioritizing family as she navigates her cancer diagnosis. On March 22, the Princess of Wales announced in a moving video released by Kensington Palace that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after doctors discovered cancer had been present following her abdominal surgery in January. The 42-year-old didn’t go into specifics about the diagnosis but did admit it took her and Prince William some time to tell their three kids, 10-year-old Prince George, 8-year-old Princess Charlotte and 5-year-old Prince Louis. “But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” she said before explaining how she is talking to her kids about her health. “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too,” Kate said. The princess’ shocking update comes as her father-in-law, King Charles, announced he was diagnosed with cancer in February. As of March 22, the palace has not specified the respective types of cancer the King and princess are facing.
